Secret Vintage Wedding Fair

April 2, 2014 – 06:48 | No Comment | 46 views

Blushing brides-to-be were asked to save the date and attend the Secret Vintage Wedding Fair at a top-secret Manchester location last week.

Despite the fact that I’m always be the bridesmaid and never the bride, hey what’s a girl to do, I was thrilled to get the chance to peek behind the tulle curtain and see just what companies could offer the discerning vintage-loving bride.
Just two days before the show the venue, which had been hushed-up online and in clandestine invitations, was finally revealed – and so on a sunny Sunday morning I headed down to the People’s History Museum.

Secret Vintage Wedding Fair

Nestled in the engine hall a bevvy of vintage store holders displayed their wares including vintage wedding dresses, stunning floral displays and a myriad of vintage-inspired accessories.

First stop was the Make and Do Studio where crafty devotees could add a home-made touch to their weddings.
I had a go at making some kitsch bunting which would look fabulous strewn around a rustic-looking village hall or barn. So simple, yet so effective. Now I want to make bunting, heck I might even personalise it with initials, for every occasion!

I fell head over heels for these stunning giant paper pom poms but unfortunately was unable to stick around for the class.

A few companies who are well-known to Vintage Manchester readers had pride of place including Bethany Jane Davies’ The Vintage Beauty Parlour, Matt and Annabel aka Vintage 78 DJs along with a whole host of quality wedding businesses.

Those looking for dress, beauty, cake and entertainment inspiration had the pick of the best the North West has to offer. The dress catwalk was a particular highlight with a number of stunning dresses shimmying down the makeshift aisle that I had an eye on.

My favourite of the bunch, though perhaps a bit risqué for a church wedding, is this gorgeous slinky number from Very Vintage Bridal that was met with a chorus of sighs from the audience.

The Secret Vintage Wedding Fair was a wonderful event that proved to be the perfect girly day out for all brides-to-be.
