No 16 The Downs Review

There are one or two occasions I find myself acting like a kid in a sweetshop; a vintage clothing fair is one. A good gin saloon is another. I’ve now found somewhere else that I can very happily spend hours browsing, perusing, spending and wanting to buy the whole venue, No. 16 The Downs.

Being a Trafford lady, I know that our vintage scene is a little sparse, so hearing about an outlet opening that is mostly (though not completely) vintage themed, had me somewhat giddy and insisting we pay a visit as soon as it opened.

There is everything you can imagine under the one roof, downstairs has a selection of both vintage style and more modern items, upstairs has a heavier vintage feel, with more vintage clothing, shoes, accessories and homewares.

The lovely man in my life was thrilled to notice that there were things for the boys too. Whilst the vintage scene can (though I’d disagree wholeheartedly) be aimed at the ladies, there’s not only elements for the more modern man; ties, cufflinks and mens grooming, there’s also men’s vintage clothing available upstairs. Though, if none of those appeal, there’s always the teashop – I’ve yet to meet anyone who can resist tea and cake!

We had a lovely browse round and though I really did want to buy everything, I restrained myself and settled on a lovely vintage 1950s hat – it was desperate for me to take it home – it near flew off the shelf. Honest.

Whether you’re looking for something specific, or just browsing, No16 The Downs is well worth a visit – with both new and old, everyone will find something they love.
